Course Overview

Certificate II in Retail Cosmetics is a great introduction for those who want to work in the beauty industry or become a Make-Up artist. This qualification also provides a pathway to work as a retail sales consultant in any business that sells beauty or cosmetic products and services. This can include beauty and hairdressing salons, retail outlets and department stores. This course will give you lots of practical experience in our training salon working on real clients.


As per the training package, there are no entry requirements for this qualification. However, Accend Education Group has its own set of entry requirements to ensure the program offered is suitable and appropriate for target learners. There are minimum entry requirements for each different target cohort for the program as listed below:

Domestic students (DS) seeking to enrol in the program must:

  • Demonstrate their competence in language, literacy and numeracy levels when enrolling into the course. A pre-training review of an applicant’s language, literacy and numeracy skills during the application process will be conducted including one-on-one interviews.
  • Domestic students under 18 years of age MUST provide written evidence of exemption from their school or the regional director at the Department of Education & Training
  • Domestic students seeking to access available/applicable government subsidies will further need to undertake assessment and provide evidence of their eligibility to receive the subsidies

Students have access to a fully equipped salon services environment (simulated) for practical demonstration and observations of all appropriate units throughout the course.

Practical tasks will be set for each student that relate to the course structure.

ACCEND has the Hair and Beauty services open to public, where students are able to maintain their skills required to successfully complete this qualification. An assortment of assessment methods structures this qualification including Practical Observation, Written Assessment, Project and observations while student is attending to an actual client in the salon.

All practical demonstrations will be observed by a ACCEND Trainer/Assessor.

In meeting their obligations to train a trainee, our ACCEND will ensure that:

  •  The student has access to the full range of settings / experiences required to develop competencies in all aspects of beauty services
  •  The student has access to the full range of tools and equipment commonly used by workers employed in hair and beauty industry
  •  The student will be instructed and supervised by a suitably-qualified and experienced person.
